According to the announcement of the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council, Shenzhen University has been authorized to confer first-level discipline Doctorate Degree in Biology and Master Degree in Biology and Medicine. Along with the second-level discipline Doctorate Degree in Photobiology (201X) and Master Degrees in Cell Biology (2000), Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2003), Botany (2005), and the first-level discipline Master Degrees in Biology (2010) and Ecology (2011), College of Life Sciences and Oceanography (CLSO) has established a complete educational system from undergraduate, master to doctoral training.

The authorization to confer first-level discipline Doctorate Degree in Biology is one of the important milestones in the CLSO development, suggesting a high level of researching and teaching of the college. At this new starting point, CLSO will seize the opportunity and continue to improve its personal training, faculty development and software/hardware construction in scientific research. CLSO is dedicated to the development of first-class college and first-class disciplines. In order to coordinate the rapid development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and implement the construction of demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics in Shenzhen city, the college is also devoted to the education of high-level talents. We aim to improve the overall quality of talents and strengthen the capability to serve society and national strategy.
